Spirituality & Well-Being

In December 2013, I completed my Master’s Degree Program at the University of New Hampshire.
The focus of the program was: Women, Spirituality & Well-Being.
The culmination of the program integrated well with my over 14 years of experience with
yoga, spirituality, well-being, women, aging, and personal development.

Below are some of the outcomes from the 8-week course that were part of my final project.  The intention of the course was to introduce the concept of living with purpose and awareness and for participants to examine if they noticed an increase in happiness and/or well-being by focusing on their thoughts, actions, reactions, emotions, and choices as well as paying attention to goals and visions for various aspects of their lives career/business, financial, relationships, and community).  Participants examined their spirituality and learned practices that can contribute to living with purpose and affect well-being (techniques: yoga, meditation, positive affirmations, breathing techniques).  The sessions also introduced information about Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) modalities (such as massage, yoga, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine) as options to introduce alternative modalities into their well-being goals.

A pre and post survey asked participants to evaluate various aspects of the session learning objectives.
The statistics below denote the change from the beginning of the program to the end (8 weeks later).

The survey asked participants to evaluate the various feelings:

  • 62.5% were happier.  37.5% stayed the same (extremely happy or quite often happy)
