Now that my website is mostly moved over to my new site and my blog is ‘attached’ to it, I am dedicating myself to blogging weekly. Sometimes it might be a link to a great article, a quote, or a full-on blog about something I think is interesting, inspirational, fun, etc. Most often it will be something that will help you find balance, trust your intuition, go with the flow, and discover what feeds your soul.
Recently someone I am in an online community with, Andrea Hiltbrunner of DreAm*heArt*sMart*ArT and from Switzerland, posed a ‘challenge’ to post about certain themes on certain dates and then asks us to share her page and in return she’ll share our page. What a wonderful idea. I love online community building!
This week’s theme is C O L O R. Which made me think of so many things: artists, chakras, my favorite color, beauty, black, white, foliage, the sky, rainbows, ROYgBIV, and color meanings.
In my research, I found a fabulous website that called ‘Color Matters’, a site that includes some not-so-typical color symbolisms and factoids. For example: did you know:
Red is the most popular color used on flags in the world ~ approximately 77% of all flags include the color red? The color orange is the middle traffic light color in France? That blue is the most commonly used color in corporate identity?
And the Color Matter’s website conducted a Global Color Survey of 130,000 people around the world and here are the results of color associations:
Happy – Yellow
Pure – White
Good Luck – Green
Good-tasting – Red
Dignity – Dark Blue
High Technology – Silver
Sexiness – Red
Mourning – Black
Expensive – Gold
Inexpensive – Brown
Powerful – Red
Dependable – Blue
High Quality – Gold
Nausea – Muted Yellow
Deity – White
Bad Luck – Black
Favorite Color – Blue
Least Favorite Color – Dark Yellow
So, why is the photo associated with this post a red flower? Yep, you guessed – red is my favorite color. What does that mean? Oh, I could read various descriptions about what it means, but like the personality tests that indicates I am an ESTJ on the Myers-Brigg (take the test here) and an 8 (though I just took the test again – 6 and 8 were equal) on the Enneagram chart (take an introductory test here), some of it fits and some of it –not so much. And as I say when I lead yoga teacher training and when I coach individuals . . . take what resonates for you and leave the rest behind.
Have fun exploring colors, the Myers-Brigg, and the Enneagram.
Make an amazing day!
